The Bang Tao or Bangtao beach area, which includes the beaches of Surin, Laguna and Cherngtalay, also know locally as Choeng Thale, is the subdistrict of the Thalang district, which is located in the middle west part of Phuket island.
Bangtao beach is a large open bay with one of Phuket’s longest beaches, which offers guests a six km (four mile) stretch of beach.
Bangtao was once used for tin mining, but has since been developed into a luxury resort to the northern end of Bangtao beach (Now named: Laguna). Where the North end of Bangtao is occupied by Laguna beach, and it’s 4/5 star Resorts, apartment rentals and Villa’s, the Southern side of Bangtao beach is where you will find the normal everyday Hotels, Apartments, Restaurants, shops, bars, and a small Village, which then leads to Surin beach.
There are also many recreation, sports and health facilities in the area of Bangtao including a riding club, a 18 hole golf course, mini golf, water sports and herbal spas and salons, and many restaurants, bars and cafes, which obviously includes our very own little ‘Bangtao Beach Bar & Café, better know as ‘La QingTing’, which is nestled right in-between the high-end beach clubs and Hotels which scatter Laguna and Bangtao beach front.
